Christmas Gifts...

I think I did fairly well this year in getting gifts that were affordable and memorable. I may be wrong, and perhaps I will hear about how little I spent on this person or that, but I'm not terribly worried. You can never win anyway, so why try.

Any-who... I decided to make my father Rainbow cookies. They're his favorites, or one of his favorites. I have never baked for my father, so we'll see how these go over. Yikes. It's all I am giving him. I think I spent the most time and effort on these anyway.

I'm going to try and attach a couple of pictures, let's see how well I do at this. The first should be of them before I cut them. They are actually 3 separate cakes that are bakes, cooled, jellied, stacked and covered in chocolate and then cut. I think they taste pretty good. In the back of one of my photos you can see my plate of rejects. They don't cut very easily. Yikes.

Road Trip....

Well, it's official... or for the moment it is! We're taking a road trip! Yee-ha!

Tom and I both have off the week of Thanksgiving. Wasn't easy to coordinate, and trust me, we would travel by a much speedier method had my employer not been such a turtle at approving my request. You'd be amazed at how quickly airfare, train fare, county fair, oops, prices can go up in a short time.

Needless to say, we're driving! Yikes!

I'm actually looking forward to it. Not quite sure how 3 kids will do for THAT long in a car, but we will soon find out! We have no set plans, but hope to visit with a few friends and family along the way. In addition, I really do want to do some sightseeing. Insert Tom's eyes rolling here. We'll see... we'll see.

So, wish us luck, or hire us a divorce attorney. It's gonna be a long trip kids!

It's Raining Men! Hallelujah! - It's Raining Men! Amen!

Ok, so I don't actually start singing this song on a daily basis, but it does seem to rain men, and women, on my way to work.

I work near the airport. Apparently, it's considered the skydive training capital of the world! It's very neat to see but freaky the first few times. I don't know how I have managed to avoid an accident up to this point. Seeing those people "falling" from the sky is very distracting.

Here's a shot of what I saw at lunch recently.

Tuesday 10...

This is my official 1st Tuesday 10 entry... yes, just like Faith, I am doing it Monday night. LOL. Tomorrow will be a longer work day than today, so, no time like the present.

1) The fat on my left thigh... and my right thigh. I was originally going to make them separate entries, but I am sure I can think of 10 honest things.

2) My gray hair. Oops, the stylist did that yesterday. Oh how I wish there was a much longer solution - other than shaving my head.

3) The carpeting in our house. It was actually new carpet when we bought the place, but with two young kids, it really didn't stand a chance. There was talk of replacing it, but it's not happening anytime soon. Too bad Tom thought it was a great idea to let Ethan paint his car for Boy Scouts on the carpet. So, my tan carpet has splotches of red, yellow and blue paint. Not to mention strawberry milk stains... someone should invent quilt patterned carpet!

4) wow... this is harder than I thought.... but paper. The tons and tons of paper. Every time I think I master it, the kids bring home their backpacks. I could plant rain forests with all this paper.

5) The weeds in my front yard. I try to pull them, but realize they're the one thing keeping the yard green at all. Hate droughts.

6) My mortgage. Wouldn't it be nice to have it paid off? Fortunately, it's much more reasonable now that we've refinanced.

7) the clutter. This is so different than the paper. I always feel like I have to sort the paper and file the paper... clutter just takes up more space.

8) my attitude. I used to have so much more patience, or at least I thought I did. I wish I could be more tolerant of things that frustrate me... like tardiness, laziness, etc.

9) toys. Specifically Polly Pockets, small dinosaurs and all the stinkin' little Barbie shoes. There's just too many toys in this world.

10) My lack of will power. I wish that I had more motivation to do all the little things in life. Specifically working out. I am working on that one a little more.

11) My scale. Have I mentioned it lies? It's sexist, I swear!

Yes, I know it's a list of 10, but one to grow on is always good, right?

Speaking of weight...

Ever notice how much stuff we are asked to send each school year? Here's a funny little video from the 1st day of school. I honestly didn't think it was that heavy, but I suppose you have one little girl and a poorly eight distributed backpack, and well... you'll see.

Weighting around...

I hate scales. I specifically hate scales that lie, or rather, scales that DON'T lie! We got a new scale because the old scale was temperamental. You could stand on the scale multiple times in a single minute and get as many different readings of your "said" weight. So, Tom gets on the new scale and it says he weighs 2 lbs less than the old scale said he did. I get on the same new scale and I now weight 15 lbs heavier than the most weight the old scale EVER said I weighed. Either this scale is honest or it hates life!

I'm thinking of returning it!

Fall has arrived....

I love everything about the fall. I love the cooler weather, the fall leaves, the pumpkins, dressing for Halloween, everything. Unfortunately, here in Central Florida, cool weather amounts to about 80 degree weather. But, it's cooler none-the-less. Should I mention how Tom laughs at me when I wear my green corduroy pants?? He says "Who wears corduroys in Florida?" Well, I do! And I love them!

I love Halloween. I wish I decorated for the holiday, but it's never been a priority. Shhh, don't tell Hannah Marie, our resident party planner, she'd have my head! She would like to decorate for Ground Hogs Day if she could. Heck, she's been planning and practicing Grandma's wedding for about 3 years now!

This will be Jaydon's 1st Halloween. His costume has arrived. We are the proud owners of a costume from Ebay. It's quite adorable. I couldn't think of anything he should be. Ethan had been a Lion for his 1st Halloween and he was very cute. The only thing we correlate to Jaydon has been pigs (year of the Golden Pig)... but I am thinking he might think we're calling him fat. So, I left it up to the Ebay bidding God's to determine which costume or furry animal he will be. Ultimately, I knew he would be Furrrrocious!

Hannah intends to be a Witch for Halloween. A good witch though. Other than being a bunny her 1st Halloween, this will be her 1st year NOT being a princess of some sort. Hmm, a sign of the teenage years to come? Yikes.

Ethan's costume has yet to be decided. He wants to be a Parasaurolophus, yet, this isn't an easy costume to find. I have considered attempting to make this, but would have better luck actually finding a live version buried in the Earth somewhere. So, we're looking at Ebay for one for him too. (Believe it or not, I am NOT an Ebay junkie, this would be purchase 8, maybe? In a lifetime?? It sounds worse, though, I know.
